My journey to becoming a Chiropractor sprouted its roots decades ago. Originally from southern California, I was raised in a house where food was naturally organic and always home grown. My background has a long love affair with natural childbirth, beginning with the home birth of my own 3 children. I developed a love for supporting pregnant women by empowering them to birth naturally and without unnecessary intervention. Midwifery was a natural next step for me.
When my oldest son was 13 years old, he fell off a 5-foot wall landing on a sidewalk directly on his back temporarily paralyzing him. We were so relieved when the ER doctors reported neither spinal fractures nor internal injuries. They told us to take our son home to rest and he would be fine. Fast-forward 3 months and he develops debilitating migraine headaches. We had no idea they were connected to his fall. We were powerless to help him and frustrated when all the medical community had to offer was drugs that didn’t work or surgery. Finally, a chiropractor came into our lives and educated us on the dangers of misalignments in the spine and their negative effects to the nervous system and overall health. Two gentle, specific chiropractic adjustments to the top bone in his spine and my son had complete resolution of his migraines.
That experience led to my biggest life calling. Simply put, I am called to spread the message of true health and give hope back to suffering families just like mine. In Midwifery, you help empower one mom at a time and her family birth the way she intends. In Chiropractic, I effect entire communities. Because I love bellies and babies I married my two loves. I have an advanced certification in the Webster Technique. This technique is an analysis and correction of the bony structures, muscles, and ligaments of the pelvis using gentle chiropractic adjustments exclusively for pregnant women. The Webster technique and analysis, as defined by the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA), is a “specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment that reduces interference to the nervous system and balances maternal pelvic muscles and ligaments.”
So why become a chiropractor?
Because here’s the truth: every human being has a nervous system that is the master control system and governs EVERY function in our entire body. The spine and skull protect that nervous system. So, it only makes sense that you would want to take very good care of what protects the master control system. Yet, less than 20% (which is highly debated) of the population receive chiropractic care. It is a complex issue with many layers. One major issue is most people only think Chiropractors help with neck pain, back pain or car accident symptoms. But the truth is Chiropractors are doctors of the nervous system. If your nervous system isn’t functioning at 100%, then your body can not be 100% healthy. Symptoms arise. Treating the symptoms is only a band aid effect and not getting to the root cause.
Here’s the other truth: We live in a world where the trillion-dollar pharmaceutical industry massively and perversely influences our health care system. The United States makes up only approximately 5% of the world’s population yet we consume over 70% of the global pharmaceutical production. Ladies and gentlemen, that is not a health care model that is a sick care disaster. Albert Einstein said, “We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.” Instead, we must employ an entirely different thought process. Let’s make drugs and surgery a last resort and not everyone’s first option.
“It’s better to light a candle, then to curse the darkness.”
I believe education is the candle. At Elevate Family Chiropractic, we teach the truth about what true health is. We teach that the body is a self-healing mechanism that is created to be healthy. In fact, Chiropractic is based on the philosophy that health comes from above down inside out.
I opened Elevate Family Chiropractic to serve the greater Roswell community with the principles of natural healing and chiropractic. My passion lies in my dedication and commitment to helping families live healthier, happier, more productive, and higher quality lives.
At EFC, we equip our community with better health strategies through neurologically based chiropractic corrective care that allows the body to heal itself naturally.
Today, my children are 23, 19 and 15 and are all well-adjusted (all pun intended=). They are my greatest joys and my inspiration to stay focused and do the necessary work toward building a healthier now.
